Jurgen Klopp sanctions £20m Liverpool deal for versatile CB

Liverpool are weighing on a £20million bid American and Schalke 04 midfielder Weston McKennie, this is according to reports.

The Reds are yet to sign any player in this window but injuries to some key players may see them swoop for reinforcements before the market is shut.

McKennie Schalke in the summer of 2016 and the 20-year-old star has caught the attention of several clubs including Liverpool. He featured in 22 League games for his side last season and he has been regularly given the nod to play this term.

Although Liverpool signed on Fabinho and Naby Keita in the summer, the versatile of McKennie makes him very rare and he has tickled the fancy of the club.

According to The Sun, Klopp is desperate to bring the rising star to Anfield and the deal may be done this month.

The player has once described his style of play as ‘win the ball and look to play it’, will fit into the style  and team of Klopp, who presses high on the pitch.

He can play across all positions and midfield – he has even played as a centre-back, which would give Klopp another option in defence.

He signed a new deal with Schalke until 2022 but the Reds believe they can get him for £20m.
