Manchester United Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho expects the club to sign a central defender when the January transfer window commences.
According to reports emanating from the British press, the Red Devils are keen on brining defensive recruitments to their team when the January window opens.
Having started the 2018/19 season poorly as per United standard, the Old Trafford outfit are ready to make moves for top class central defenders in order to close the gap between them and the rest of the top six.
Manchester Evening News reported that the club’s preferred players include Milan Skriniar, Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, and Diego Godin.
It is no surprise that the 20 time EPL winners are looking for defensive reinforcements having let in 17 goals in 10 games in the EPL alone. Only Fulham, Burnley, Huddersfield, and Cardiff have let in more goals during the same period this season.
United have made two central defence signings during Mourinho’s era at the club – Eric Bailly and Victor Lindleof. While Lindleof has been superb in the last three games, Bailly was incredible in his early days at the club. Nonetheless, both players have the manager’s faith as they have only played alongside each other twice.
Having returned back to form in recent matches, the Old Trafford outfit will be hoping to keep the present atmosphere within the club.
