While other managers are still looking at their fixtures and planning for the next match, Jose Mourinho has set his sights on something bigger.
The Red Devils manager has outlined that he needs three players when summers kicks in. Having stated that he doesn’t need any more forward in his United setup, Jose Mourinho is more concentrated on the defensive side of his team.
The 55 year old Portuguese manager has underlined that he needs a new left-back, a midfielder, and a centre-back in the subsequent transfer window.
According to the Mirror, the United gaffer believes those are the three positions he needs to fill for him to close the chasm between his second placed team and champions-elect Manchester City.
According to the Mirror report, the Old Trafford outfit will be pursuing a new midfielder since Michael Carrick will be retiring and Marouane Fellaini has refused to extend his stay at the English club.
Several players including Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Sokratis, Sergej Milinkovic, and more have been on the Portuguese’s radar. He is reportedly satisfied with Ashley Young’s performances as a left-back this season. However, his lack of belief in Luke Shaw combined with the fact that Young is nearing the end of his career has made him be on the look for the perfect long-term solution.
Since Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind will also be leaving Old Trafford, Mourinho won’t need to convince the board to splash the cash come summer.
