Manchester United manager José Mourinho is reportedly in the race for former Tottenham and Croatian midfielder Luka Modric having seen Paul Pogba flopped in recent matches. The Frenchman has been unable to positively influence matches so far this season as many would have expected from the club’s record signing.
Pogba who is reportedly unhappy with the way he is being treated by the Portuguese manager told reporters that his uninspiring performances could be traced to being used in an unfamiliar position. José Mourinho this season, has largely featured Paul Pogba as a defensive midfielder despite knowing that the Frenchman man always performs brilliantly while playing as an attacking midfielder where he has the freedom to operate behind the strikers.
The former Juventus player might leave the Old Trafford stadium in the summer should Mourinho insist on using him as a holding midfielder according to reports via Betstars.
Betstars also reported that Real Madrid star Luka Modric is being tracked by Mourinho as he is set to find a replacement for the France international. Modric, 32, joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2012, and he has been of the best players for the Los Blancos this season.
Before Modric’s switch to the La Liga giants, United made an offer for his signature, but they were turned down by Spurs as they claimed they couldn’t sell him to a Premier League club.
The Lilywhites are also in the race to get back their former player as Mauricio Pochettino hopes to bolster his squad before the upcoming season should he fail to secure Madrid’s coaching job.
MOdric is currently valued at £36.00m.
