Talks over the imminent exit of Frenchman Anthony Martial has been plastered over the media, after suffering a disappointing spell under Mourinho last season.
Martial remains unyielding, despite Mourinho willing to give the youngster a chance at glory.
It is understood Mourinho’s relationship with the Frenchman iss staggering and steps to mend it has slowed.
The forward was fined for his uncharacteristic behaviour during United’s pre-season tour for the birth of his second child.

But this time, Mourinho hopes Martial will stay at Old Trafford, as he is prepared to put whatever differences they have behind.
Martial joins Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Juan Mata whose contract are running down, that the Portuguese wants to remain at the club.
Mourinho said: “I hope they will stay.
“We had a similar conversation last season about Marouane (Fellaini) and I was always saying ‘I hope he stays, I believe he stays’.
“I say the same and I hope that they stay. Of course, I am happy with the players.
