Jose Mourinho receives order to drop Paul Pogba from major games

Manchester United most expensive player Paul Pogba has been heavily criticised for failing to leave up to his bidding and Jose Mourinho has been advised to drop the French midfielder from United squad in big games, that’s according to Tony Cascarino.

Pogba was anonymous in Man United’s thrilling encounter against Tottenham that saw them lose 2-0 and he was dropped from the starting XI against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Pogba came on in the second half of Man United Premier League game last weekend as they cruised passed the newly promoted Premier League side and Cascarino has backed Mourinho to drop the French midfielder in subsequent games.

According to The Times, he wrote: “I was very critical of Paul Pogba after his performance in Manchester United’s defeat away to Tottenham in midweek.

“Jose Mourinho responded to that display by leaving him out, but it is the easiest thing in the world to drop someone against Huddersfield.

“The big call is to leave him out for a big game. It is another thing altogether if Mourinho leaves him out against one of the big six teams.

Huddersfield, given the way they are playing, pose little threat. Scott McTominay is a gifted lad, but he is very conservative. He is a much safer option than Pogba.

“He is not going to give much away and he will sit deep. But the real test for him — and for Mourinho — will come against Seville or Liverpool this month.”

Pogba joined Man United with the pedigree of a world class player but his display and commitment has left so much to be desired.

Man United play Newcastle in their next Premier League game.
