José Mourinho watched target Milinkovic-Savic from a special corner in the stands on Thursday as Serbia stumped Montenegro, and drove past them, scoring twice to emerge winners in the ongoing UEFA Nations League tournament.
Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic’s braced helped Serbia edge past Montenegro.
January target Milinkovic-Savic, who has already bagged one assist and one goal for Italian outfit Lazio, was introduced at the 19 minutes after the hour mark, before the build up to Mitrovic’s second goal.
Milinkovic-Savic signed a deal with Lazio earlier this month, but there have been strong suggestions milling about his swap for United in January.
United currently have the 23-year-old under keen watching eyes. The 23-year-old almost joined the Red Devils in July, but the move did not materialise.
Mourinho’s summer business flipped into disaster after getting socked with disappointment. United failed to purchase targets over the summer, including getting Milinkovic-Savic.
The 23-year-old was pinned as unready for the throes and demands of the Premier League, but given his outstanding form so far for Lazio and Mourinho eager to claw out of his own mess at United, making a big money move yanking the star out of Lazio to Old Trafford will bolster United’s midfield.
