The unprecedented release of Swedish football god Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Manchester United left a deep in the attack of the Red Devils, leaving Mourinho with no choice than to sign an establish striker that will make the team more competitive and potent in attack.
According to latest reports making the rounds, Jose Mourinho has succeeded to convince Spanish and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata to jump the ship to the fortress of Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old striker returned to Madrid last summer after an unfruitful spell with the Old Lady. It was thought that he would slot into the first team of Los Blancos but Zinedine Zidane has preferred Karim Benzema over the Spaniard.
Man United are not the only club in the chase of the player, which raised doubts as to where he’ll end up in the upcoming season. However, Marca claims Mourinho has personally informed Morata that he’ll be a key member of his squad.
‘Come with me, you’ll be important’. The Portuguese tactician said.
Morata started in only 14 La Liga games for the La Decima holders but he ended the just concluded season with 15 goals and four assists. He’ll improve yet but his stats looks very promising for a young striker.
The agent of Morata is due to meet with Real Madrid and make bare the player’s decision to join United, and the Red Devils will make an offer of €70 million (£61.4m) for the star, per the report.
He’ll be a class signing for Mourinho.
