Eden Hazard transfer to Real Madrid has been decided, that’s the claim of former English footballer turned pundits Paul Mariner.
Hazard has been on the transfer radar of Real Madrid since the reign of Zinedine Zidane. It was widely believed Les Merenguez would make a move for him in the summer after they sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.
The Belgian currently has 18 months left on his current contract. Although Maurizio Sarri has laid bare his desire to keeping the player within his fold, talks over a new deal for the star has not been fruitful.
Chelsea have signed on Christian Pulisic from Borrussia Dortmund and many outlets have claimed he would be a long term replacement for the Madrid bound Hazard.
Mariner claims the deal for the transfer of Hazard to Madrid had been brokered a long time ago.
Asked, “Is Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea in the summer? Yes or No” Mariner said on the ESPNFC podcast: “It’s a yes.“The deal’s been done a long, long time ago.”
Fellow pundit Shaka Hislop also lent his opinion to the debate but he claimed there are uncertainty over the player’s move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I’m going to say yes, but I’m not going to go 100%. 68%, little bit less than a third of a chance he’ll stay.”
Chelsea will certainly need a top-notch attacker to step in the shoes of Hazard else it will take them a long them to recover from his sale.
