Since the summer of 1996 in which Arsene Wenger took over the reigns of Arsenal, the club has nurtured and churned out world class players.
Players like Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, and Cech Fabregas were made by Wenger who believed in them and gave them the opportunity to shine.
He’s pacy, has strength and shoot with precision, Kylian Mbappe has taken the French League by storm and is highly coveted by several European club. However, Arsenal legend Robert Pires has revealed that Arsenal will sign the youngster as he’ll be properly nurtured by Wenger, reports the Mirror.
Mbappe, 18, is in his second season with Monaco but the French star is enjoying a breakthrough season. He has been instrumental to Monaco’s semi-final journey in the Champions League and their top spot position in Ligue One log.
Wenger had earlier claimed that he may be unable to compete with the other suitors of Mbappe as he’ll be a tad expensive for him to sign but Pires who is still training with Arsenal reckons that the youngster will be a Gunner.
‘I do think Arsenal will sign him,’ Pires, who spent six years at the club and won two Premier League titles, told Bwin.
‘The problem is how much. Mbappe has the potential to play for Arsenal and Wenger is the right manager to manage him.
‘Monaco and Arsenal are very similar in clubs, so it won’t be much of a transition.’
Mbappe is valued at £100m (€118m) by the French outfit but for an 18-year-old with inexperience, Arsene Wenger will spend nowhere close to their demand for the player which is why Arsenal will lose out on the signing of the player.
Arsenal hope of Champions League qualification is bleak, we may find it difficult to sign on top-notch players if we don’t make it to the holy grail of European football.
