Manchester United remain keen to keep their goalkeeper David De Gea in the summer as they are reportedly set to offer him a new contract which will make him one of the highest paid goalkeepers in the league.
Though there are ongoing negotiations between the Spaniard’s agent and Manchester United over the proposed contract extension, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez could reportedly make another move for the goalie in the summer.
Florentino Perez who has been a longtime admirer of the netminder was close to signing him in 2015, but the deal was blocked at the nick of time by the Red Devils who failed to get his replacement.
The president is now willing to break Madrid transfer record so as to convince United to release the goalkeeper, and according to Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, the 27-year-old might just consider Madrid’s offer in the summer should the Galacticos meet his terms and conditions.
El Gol Digital further reported that De Gea wants to be receiving a whopping sum of €8million as his annual salary. The Spaniard also charges Real Madrid to get rid of Navas’ contract before he could move to Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid could fail in their bid to defend the league title which they won last season due to the team’s poor defensive records throughout the season, and Perez wants to avoid the same situation in the upcoming season as he knows that with De Gea, the team has a great chance of keeping multiple clean sheets.
The Los Blancos are currently in the third position behind Barcelona and their neighbours Atletico Madrid who sit in the first and second positions respectively.
