How Man United will line-up with James Rodriguez in midfield, agreement reached

With the summer transfer window beckoning, and the apparent need for Manchester United to bolster their otherwise strong squad, the Red Devils have been linked with a host of star players.

According to an emerging report making the rounds by Daily Star, James Rodriguez will be linking up with Jose Mourinho, after he reached an agreement with the principal of Los Blancos Florentino Perez.

Rodriguez was left out of Real Madrid’s squad that thumped the Rojiblancos in the Champions League last night. He has started only 11 La Liga game for the La decima holders this term and has struggled to get into the first team of Madrid since the reigns of Zidane.

Jose Mourinho has been limited in his choices for attackers this term. The reported transfer of Rodriguez might change the shape of how United have lined up for the most part of this season.

Rodriguez is a skillful offensive player, who plays behind the striker or on the right flank, as he likes to cut into his left. He’s renown for his pace, technical skills, ambidexterity and ability to tear defenses apart with his eagle-eyed passes.

He has stated that his preferred position is behind the striker. Should he complete the move Old Trafford, he’ll play along midfield duo of Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera – Pogba is a good marker of the ball, all he’ll be expected to do with Rodriguez in his front is to take the ball from Herrera and deliver it to Rodriguez for the final pass to the striker.

Mkhitaryan would be moved to the right wing or be made to interchange positions with Rashford who has done well this term. We expect to see a striker signing that will complete an attacking trident of Rashford/Martial, and Mkhitaryan among other deals for next term as our priority in the market is a midfielder and a striker.
