Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has revealed how his former club can thump Juventus in the Champions League, per reports.
The Red Devils have traveled to Turin for their return leg encounter against the Old Lady, where they will be hoping to upset the Scudetto holders.
United were outplayed, and outscored at Old Trafford only a fortnight ago by the Old Lady, who have dominated the Seria A for over five years and have won 13 of their last 14 matches. Giggs has claimed that during his days as a player, United had similar challenges like this season.
With the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Alen Boksic, Didier Deschamps and Alessandro Del Piero in 1996 and 1997, United lost to the side at that time. Nonetheless, in 1999, UNited beat the Old Lady in the Semi final, the same season that the clinch the treble.
Speaking ahead of the game, Giggs said:
“United were second-best the other week. Juventus were fantastic and United didn’t turn up. But United have the players and I think it will be closer in Turin.
“It is about realising you have to get to that level. How do you do that? You have to perform week in and week out, training every day and realising what it takes to be the best club in Europe.
“We faced the likes of Zidane, Boksic, Edgar Davids, Del Piero but we had players who were capable of doing it too – and they did.”
Giggs is said to have fond memories of playing against Juventus and so, he is in a good position to advise the squad.
