Brazilian Roberto Firmino is relentless in his runs, ‘always snarling, full of energy and ready to bite’, says Jamie Redknapp, former Liverpool midfielder.
Firmino is earmarked as the backbone of Liverpool lethal three-pronged attack.
His quick busts during Liverpool 2-1 win over Tottenham was the highlight of the clash.
Tottenham were routed on the pitch despite their firm coordination against a strong Reds side.
And Firmino was Spurs “worst nightmare” at Wembley.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Redknapp blamed a poor Salah or Sadio Mane performance on the ineptitude of Firmino. If Firmino is blazing guns, then Salah and Sadio Mane will consume their opponents with their attacking flairs.
“The Liverpool forward may not have scored a hat-trick like Eden Hazard,” he told the Daily Mail.
“But he was Tottenham’s worst nightmare at Wembley.
“He was constantly harrying Spurs midfielders and giving them no time on the ball.
Redknapp likened Firmino’s showoff on the field to an ‘hyena’, praising his athleticism at Wembley.
“On Sky Sports, I likened his performance to a hyena.
“Always snarling, full of energy and ready to bite.
“Time and again at Wembley he pickpocketed Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele to launch counter-attacks.
“With Spurs’ full backs committed up the pitch, Liverpool were able to break into space at high speed.”
