While Chelsea are expected to build on recent win over Manchester United in the league, they also have an eye in the on-coming January transfer window.
Antonio Conte had bolstered his squad ahead of this season in the summer but it was apparent that he wanted more signings to cope with demands of all the competitions. Chelsea have now been boosted in their chase of Chilean star Arturo Vidal after the player was put up for sale by Bayern Munich, this is according to report.
Vidal has seen his stock dropped since Bayern Munich appointed their former manager Jupp Heynckes. Vidal has struggled to get into the first team of the Bavarian side. However, reports have indicated that Conte is a big fan of the star and he wants to sign the player to fortify his midfield.
According to the Sun, Bayern Munich have slapped a £50m tag on the player but Chelsea may not be able to pay the said sum on a 30-year-old.
Vidal’s current contract expires in 2019 and Bayern will be tempted to sell him for a price cheaper than they are asking else they lose him for free.
It became obvious that Chelsea lack depth in midfield when N’golo Kante was injured and a player like Vidal typically plays like Kante. Chelsea are expected to sign player(s) in the transfer window but it is left to be seen who joins them.
