Good news: world Cup winner confirms he’ll be play for Arsenal next season

Mesut Ozil has laid to rest the uncertainties surrounding his future at Arsenal after claiming that he is staying put at the club.

It can be recalled that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s futures at the Emirates Stadium has been hanging in the balance, with both of them having just a year left on their respective contracts.

And while news of a move away from the club has continued to trail Sanchez, interests in Ozil appear to have cool off, and probably due to that, the German playmaker has decided to continue his career with the FA Cup holders.

Presently in Australia with the rest of the squad on their pre-season tour, Ozil is confident of reaching an agreement with the club as regards a new contract after the tour.

“It is definitely my preference to stay,” Ozil said after the Gunners third kit was unveiled to the Public.

“It is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal. Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss about the future.

“For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.”

Arsenal have already signed Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon in a club-record deal as well as Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer and they are still very much interested in signing Thomas Lemar from Monaco.

However, the North London club will be hoping Ozil’s deal would persuade Sanchez to also stay at the club. The Chilean forward has been heavily linked with Manchester City but it is obvious Arsene Wenger is not ready to let go any of his star player.
