As Jose Mourinho seeks to strengthen his squad, the news of Barca delaying Jordi Alba’s contract may excite him.
Manchester United’s struggles in the 2018/19 season have been well documented. The English club have only won three of their last twelve games. The reason for such a poor form is not defined as the manager, the players, and the board have all been blamed for making bad decisions.
At a point, it was reported that Mourinho was getting sacked after the Newcastle match irrespective of the outcome of the match. While the manager was able to buy himself an extended stay at the club, the club’s fortunes are yet to be turned.
One of the reasons United are playing so poorly is the fact that the club couldn’t do enough business in the summer as they missed out on defensive targets.
This time, however, it seems they are ready to risk everything. Jose Mourinho has outlined Jordi Alba as a player he would love to bring to the Theatre of Dreams. The Spanish defender is contracted with Barca until the end of the season.
As things stand, he is yet to put pen on paper regarding an extension, and the Catalans have equally delayed a contract offer for the defender.
According to Spanish reports, the Catalan club have agreed on an improved offer, but they won’t table it until the end of the season.
United will be looking to pounce on any failing of the Spanish giants.
