Manchester United have handed their Portuguese manager £100m which they expect him to spend in January on two major signings.
After missing out on a number of targets in the summer, Jose Mourinho warned the club and her fans that they should expect a difficult season. Having seen all of their major rivals strengthen their squads, United finished their summer deals without defensive recruitments which their manager had outlined before the end of the previous season.
The Red Devils saw their moves for Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire in abrupt ends. Mourinho even wanted to bring Bayern Munich’s established central defender Jerome Boateng to the Theater of Dreams. However, VP Ed Woodward thought none of the manager’s defensive options represented good value for money.
Recently, Mourinho has been spotted scouting Milan Skkriniar and Nikola Milenkovic both from Inter Milan and Fiorentina respectively. The two players are possible January recruits, and Mourinho is currently setting eyes on the duo.
The former Real Madrid manager is also reportedly looking for a new goalscorers as both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez as well as Marcus Rashford are fizzling out of form. With £100m in the winter, we are likely to be seeing a much improved United side.
