The task for Arsene Wenger in this transfer window has not just been the reinforcement of his squad but getting his key players currently in the final year of their contracts to sign new deals.
Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez have all stalled over new deals with Arsenal but it is the Chilean who appear to be of most concern as it is given that he heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates.
In a exclusive report by Skysport, Arsenal fans can sit back and make a toast as Sanchez will be staying put at the Emirates for another season as claimed by Arsene Wenger.
Sanchez like his aforementioned teammates is in the final year of his current contract with Arsenal, with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Chelsea credited with interest for him. Wenger has played down his departure stating that the Chilean could even sign a new deal before the season kicks off.
Arsenal arrived Sydney for their pre-season tour and Arsene Wenger was quizzed about Sanchez upon their arrival.
“The players have contracts and we expect them to respect their contracts.
He was further asked if Sanchez has handed a transfer request, and he said: “No”
He added: “I think the easiest way to manage a player is in the final year of his contract. It is in his interest to do as well as he can.
“Nobody knows today if Sanchez will be on his final year of his contract next season, because he can extend his contract with us at the start of the season or during the season.
Arsenal signed on Alexis Lacazette to make their attack more potent, this should be enough motivation for Sanchez to stay put at the Emirates but the lure of Champions League football and medal is said to be the reason why Sanchez may consider his future with the Gunners.
