Virgil van Dijk and Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci have been on the transfer radar of Chelsea but Antonio Rudiger emerged as a top on the list of central defenders wanted by Conte. The former Vfb Stuttgart man has been a handful for attackers since joining Roma.
Some sources peddled reports that Rudiger has already had his medical with Chelsea in LA, but we have not been able to ascertain the veracity of that report. Skysports have been perennially reliable and they are now making claims that discussions between Chelsea and the star over personal terms are at an advanced stage, while there is an agreement between Roma and Chelsea.
We understand that Chelsea and Roma have agreed a fee that could potential rise to £34m, and it is anticipated that the deal will be sealed within the coming days.
Chelsea have been seeking the fill the void left by the departure of John Terry and they think Rudiger is a perfect fit for the defense.
