Chelsea and England Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek wants to fight for a place in the team of Chelsea next season, says Reuters.
The 22-year-old believes in his abilities and calls himself a versatile player. And is willing to break through the ranks into getting regular starts for Chelsea. However, he was quick to say that it would be a difficult task given Chelsea’s taste for victory all the time in all competitions and the need to win trophies.
Since his senior debut for the Blues in 2015, the Englishman has made only 32 appearances so far and despite his England call-up by boss Southgate, including an exemplary term at Crystal Palace on loan, his future still remains in doubt.
However, Loftus-Cheek is confident he can make the break just like former veteran John Terry.
“I’m confident in my ability that I can do well wherever it is,” Loftus-Cheek told reporters. “Ever since I was in the Chelsea academy, I’ve had that awareness that people were saying I would be the one to break through since JT (John Terry).
Loftus-Cheek made an impressive 10-min start for England against Tunisia in the final third of their World Cup opening campaign at Russia. He expected to also feature for the Three Lions against Panama on Sunday.
The rising star is valued at £13.50m by transfermarkt.
