Gonzalo Higuain is a “goal machine”, and “automatic jackpot”, and Maurizio Sarri is bent on pulling all stops to bring him over to Stamford Bridge.
Higuain has had a flagging campaign since moving to AC Milan last summer from Juventus, following the club’s buy of former Real Madrid frontman Cristiano Ronaldo.
Higuain has been the meat of transfer talks between trío Chelsea, Milan and Juventus.
Talks have been spreading about Chelsea closing in on the deal and it was assumed it would be thrashed out before the month’s end.
Sarri is desperate to sign a striker as Chelsea have seen the tally of goals they had banged when the season went underway reduced drastically.
The boss continues to play playmaker Eden Hazard as a middle option, but has made it clear to Chelsea he needs a striker.
Higuain checks well in all angles, and a move to Chelsea is being anticipated.
However, Blues may have to wait until in the summer when they can buy him. Higuain, according to reports carried by Gazzetta dello Sport will not leave the San Siro.
The 31-year-old wants to stay as he seeks to add spark to his fading career in Italy.
Higuain played under Sarri during the Chelsea’s boss spell at Napoli.
