Forget Matic: Jose Mourinho to enter bidding war with Arsenal over La Liga ace midfielder

Manchester United and Arsenal are not relenting in their efforts to build a strong team ahead of the new season and after making some acquisitions, the two English clubs are ready to battle for the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio.

His exploits for Real Madrid last season and in the European U21 Championship for Spain has not gone unnoticed and that has put him in popular demand.

Conscious of his potentials, Man United and Arsenal are interested in the 21-year-old Spaniard and are prepared to make huge offers for the highly-rated midfielder, according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon.

Despite being behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale in the pecking order, he scored 10 goals in 38 appearances for the La Liga and Champions League winners last season, including netting in the 4-1 win over Juventus in the European final.

The talented youngster is also reported to have attracted the interested of Italian champions Juventus, who want him as a replacement for Paulo Dybala who could also be on the move with Barcelona credited with interest in him.

However, the reports also claim Real Madrid are not ready to sell him. But they will be hoping to command a huge profit on him.

Asensio has also won the Super Cup and the Club World Cup with Real Madrid. He was part of the Spanish team that won the European U19 Championship in 2015.

He is contracted to the Los Blancos till 2022, having joined them from Espanyol last summer for £2.5 million.
