Forget Higuain, Roman Abramovich sanction Chelsea deal for £100m forward

Chelsea are bitterly involved in the race to land Inter Milan’s striker Mauro Icardi. The Blues have lacked finesse in front of goal and have seen the number of its goal tally per match take a surprising drop since the season kicked off.

Chelsea are desperately in need of a formidable striker, one who is confident in front of goal.

Alvaro Morata has failed to step up to the plate, flagging miserably in his performance and show no hints of nearing the form he hit during his spell at Juventus, before moving to Real Madrid.

Argentina international Icardi has a 100 million pounds clause hanging down from the back of his neck and is nowhere thinking about leaving the San Siro.

But that could change in the future as agent/wife Wanda Nera has continued to drag talks on an extension deal for the 25-year-old.

Inter Milan are ready to offer Icardi a new deal to keep him at the outfit. The club is aware his being chased down by big European clubs, but the 6 million euro price fee they have dropped on the table has yet to convince the unyielding Nerra. Nerra claimed the deal is not realistic, and this is already threatening the no. 9’s stay at the club.

Chelsea are on the alert and are set to pounce on this opportunity to grab him, and already have the backing of owner Roman Abrahamovich who is poised to release the funds for his transfer.
