Forget Belotti: Chelsea to agree surprise deal for 37-goal striker

Desperate times requires desperate measures and that seem to be the story of Chelsea in the closing stages of this transfer window.

In what has been dubbed as a surprise move of the summer, Chelsea have been credited with interest for England international and Leicester City goal poacher Jamie Vardy, according to report.

The Blues signed Alvaro Morata this summer but the imminent departure of Diego Costa means that Conte still wants  bolster his final third before the close of the window. Chelsea will feature in the Champions league and other domestic competitions but Mitchy Batshuayi is not looking like the perfect back up striker needed by the Blues.

Chelsea have lined up several strikers but The Telegraph claims that the Blues have considered to Vardy since they are uncertain to sign Andrea Belotti, who is still on their radar.

Vardy saw his stock risen in the penultimate season when he led the Foxes to the Premier league title. Although, he failed to replicate same form last term, he seem to have found his scoring boots this season, after finding the back of the net twice against Arsenal.

Vardy has scored 37 league goals over the last two seasons but he may not be able to play ahead of Morata despite being used to the Premier league. Chelsea have lined up other strikers including Swansea’s Fernando Llorente, Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke and Andrea Belotti of Torino.

Chelsea are heavily linked with a move for Danny Drinkwater too but Leicester City are not looking to sell their best players.
