Manchester United will wear a bright smile on their face when they finally announce the new five-year contract signed by Anthony Martial this week.
Martial had been the meat of transfer talks inside Old Trafford. The Frenchman was eager to leave the Mancunians after his bitter and painful spell under former boss Jose Mourinho.
The pair found it difficult to work together and Mourinho was bent on clipping the star out of the side before his looming exit in December.
Before Mou’s layoff, Martial’s camp had alerted United about their player being a misfit at United and wants to walk out.
But the club’s bigwigs had refused to sanction his move, dragging talks over his future for a long period.
However, with Mourinho finally kicked out the door, and United slowly coughing back to life, Martial has seen his role on the pitch take a significant rise.
And news in France have claimed caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s good charm has made the French attacker have a change of heart.
French outlet RMC says a deal is already in the offing and Martial will ink his signature on paper on a new deal before Friday this week.
When that happens United will throw the announcement at the media. Martial could trouser an extra 70,000 pounds if the deal pulls through. The winger currently earns 120,000-per-week as wages.
