Arsenal were among the active Clubs in the immediate past winter transfer window. Nonetheless, the London Club are still expected to be busy when the summer transfer window comes alive.
Arsenal had their scout in the Champions League game between Besiktas and Bayern Munich in a bid to watch transfer prime target Oguzhan Ozyakup, according to latest report.
Ozyakup has stalled over signing a new deal with his club and Arsenal have made offers to lure him back to the Emirates where he started his career. He was a member of the Gunners B team that won the Youth FA Cup along Jack Wilshere in 2009, fondly remembered so.
Ozyakup signed for Besiktas in the summer of 2012 after failing to break into the first team of Arsenal and he has become one of the best midfielders in the Turkish League following his impressive displays for the Club.
The 25-year-old midfielder lured the scouts of Arsenal to Vodafone Arena as they looked to confirm his quality but he was left on the bench as Bayern Munich thumped his side 5-0 right in front of their fans, according to the Daily Mirror.
There is currently a dearth of central midfielders at Arsenal following the departure of Francis Coquelin. However, Ozyakup is a more attacking minded player and he may struggle to get into the Gunners squad. We need a natural defensive midfielder as it is given that there are a plethora of attacking midfielders at the club already.
