Emery swings into action, set to sign first Arsenal player from PSG – not Verratti

Having been appointed as Arsenal boss, former Paris St-German manager Unai Emery has swung into action as he is reportedly set to complete his first signing as Arsenal boss.

According to reports, the Spanish manager is ready to reunite with PSG midfielder Rabiot in the summer. The Frenchman was surprisingly left out of France World Cup squad by Didier Deschamps last week.

The midfielder is reportedly unhappy over his World Cup snub, but Emery is ready to give him another reason to smile in the coming days as the newly appointed Arsenal manager wants to offer him a new lease of life.

Rabiot played under Unai Emery in the just concluded season, helping the team to a three domestic titles.

However, Rabiot could see his wages cut down in the summer should he eventually move to the Emirates Stadium, according to Calciomercato

The 23-year-old is contracted with PSG till the end of next season. However, the Ligue 1 giants might want to cash-in on his signature this summer so as to prevent him from leaving as a free agent.

Meanwhile, Emery might face some challenges in his desire to lure the impressive player to North London.

During Emery’s stay at the Parc Des Princes Stadium, Rabiot wasn’t a frequent player, and that could play huge part in preventing him from moving to Arsenal.
