Arsene Wenger cannot take his eyes off the French League just yet, as he reported to be closing in on yet another France international star.
The Sun reports that Arsenal are on the cusp if completing a big-money move for AS Monaco star Thomas Lemar. The report goes on to claim that the player has agreed personal terms with the English side ahead of a potential switch this summer.
It is reported that the player has agreed a £90k-a-week deal but what is the way of this deal is the attacker’s transfer fee. Both clubs are poles apart, as the Gunners are obstinate about matching Monaco’s asking fee believed to be in the region of £80 million (€90million).
The Ligue 1 champions were earlier reported to have rejected a £31 million bid for the 21-year-old, but it is believed that turn in an improved bid imminently.
Lemar was an integral member of the team that won the League after 17 years of enduring football. The winger ran defenders ragged from the left and right wing, recording 10 goals and 14 assists for Lyon last season.
The reason for the pursuit of this young lad is not farfetched: Alexis Sanchez have chosen to hold Arsenal to ransom, with a move to Bayern Munich reported to be on the cards, hence the decision to sign Thomas.
Should the France international join the club, he would obviously be considered a major coup.
