Jose Mourinho is one of the managers that advocated for the quick closure of the summer transfer window. The Portuguese manager has begun reinforcing his squad, with deal confirmations for Diogo Dalot and Fred. However, the Red Devils are expected to still sign one or two players before the closure of the window.
Despite ending the season with the second best defensive record in the Premier league, Mourinho wants to strengthen his defense, leading the Manchester club to making an offer of £57million(€65m) for Slovakia and Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, according to report.
Skriniar joined Inter Milan only last year from Sampdoria and he has proven to be a bargain buy for the San Siro Outfit. He featured in all the league games of Inter Milan last season and played a key role in their return to the Champions league.
The player confirmed that Inter Milan received offers for him from Manchester United but ruled out a move from the Seria A club.
“Manchester United? I heard from them and it made me proud.
“But I’m even happier that Inter decided to reject it and that they believe so much in me.” he told the Slovakian football federation’s official website:
United may have to look elsewhere to bolster their squad – they signified their interest to sign Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham but that move has already hit the rocks,.
It is widely claimed that Victor Lindelof will be sent on loan, and either of Chris Smalling or Phil Jones will be sold before the close of the window.
