RB Leipzig 22-year-old striker Timo Werner has revealed his desire to play in the Premier League in the future. The German has been in fine form for the Bundesliga side this season as he has been directly involved in 20 goals — 16 goals and four assists.
His impressive performance hasn’t gone unnoticed by Premier League giants as the Sun reports that Liverpool and Manchester United are set to vie for his signature in the summer.
According to the youngster in an interview with sport journal Four Four Two, it has been his childhood dream to play for a Premier League side.
“Playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs,” he said.
He further said that he was a fan of Alex Ferguson while growing up because the Scottish manager helped United win many trophies during his reign as the Red Devils boss.
The player also revealed his desire to play for the 20-time Premier League in the future because he believes they have the attitude of winning trophies. According to him, it’s better to play for a club who provide great chances of winning trophies and becoming a Champion.
“But when I have to decide, I’m more Manchester United than Liverpool. I’m now at a point where at some stage in the future I’d like to play in a team that wins titles,” he concluded.
Despite his young age, Werner has featured in 10 games for a star-studded Joachim Loew’s team, and he will be hoping his impressive display is enough to earn him a place in the manager’s World Cup squad list.
Though transfer period is still some months away, Liverpool and Manchester United are already battling for the €60 million-rated goal poacher.
