€50m bid tabled: Chelsea to thump Man United to the signing of sturdy CB

Chelsea have turned fierce title contenders over the few months that have rolled by. With ‘Sarri-ball’ the Blues have held the meat of the ball more, compared to their opponents this season.

However the Blues want to further tighten their backline and have their eyes on Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar and Alessio Romagnoli of AC Milan.

Spaniard Caesar Azpilicueta and Brazilian David Luiz, though are in their best forms, they are on the wrong side of 30.

Romagnoli and Skriniar are youthful talents, and both centre-backs could be the future of Chelsea.

Reports swarming news outlet, The Sun,  say Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wants to sign the centre-back duo ahead of Manchester United.

United have conceded more than the Premier League’s big five this season. And they currently sit 8th on the Premier League standings, which puts them in between a rock and a hard place.

Mourinho failed to secure a deal for Belgian Toby Alderweireld this summer, despite sustained interests in the star since last season.

The Portuguese picked interests in Jerome Boateng and Diego Godin and looked set to sign them, but United shoved off the idea of bringing on the defensive duo who were 30 and 32 respectively.

United approached AC Milan for their skipper Romagnoli in this summer according to La Gazetta dello Sport, submitting a bid of 50 million euros, which was rejected by the Milan outfit.
