Colombia international James Rodriguez is set to put to paper on a permanent deal with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, according to report.
Rodriguez was reduced to the fringes of Real Madrid since the appointment of Zinedine Zidane and he was sent on a loan move with the Bavarian. Since joining the side in the penultimate season, the 26-year-old attacking midfielder has seen his stock risen. He has started in 15 Bundesliga games, and has scored five goals with nine assists to his name.
According to report, Rodriguez has asked Bayern Munich to pay his €42 million release clause which includes the loan fee paid to Madrid by the Bundesliga side this season.
When he finally signs the permanently deal, Chelsea and Liverpool would have lost out on their transfer prime target. The Blues were heavily linked with a move for the star last summer but they ended up signing Ross Barkley from Everton in the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are yet on the look out for a player that will replace Philippe Coutinho and they had beamed their searchlight on the left footer. The Reds may have to turn their attention elsewhere to fulfill the dream of landing another creative hub.
