With the Premier League kick-off closer than ever, Jose Mourinho is a player short to make his team very formidable and competitive ahead of the upcoming season.
Jose Mourinho has already reinforced his squad with three top-notch players this summer but the Portuguese manager has reiterated that he needs one more player and despite offers made for Ivan Perisic, United have been unable to broker a deal with Inter Milan for the player’s transfer.
Man United may have to turn their attention on another attacker as reports according to M.E.N has indicated that Perisic has begun talks with the Seria Side Inter Milan over a new deal.
Perisic joined Inter Milan on their pre-season tour in China late on and it was speculated that a United deal was in the offing for him at that time. However, despite United reported £39m bid for him and now, it appears that the Nerazzurri have won the battle to keep him within their fold.
Negotiation have begun with the player over extending his contract as confirmed by the Sporting director of the San Siro outfit Piero Ausilio.
“I don’t understand where some of these stories come from,” Ausilio told Mediaset Premium. “[Antonio] Candreva has never been on the market and we have absolutely no intention of selling him.
“The same goes for Perisic, who is an important player and we are currently discussing a new contract with him.”
However, Man United have now been heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale but the Welsh star is not expected to come on a cheap.
Mourinho is looking to add bite and option to his attack and he thinks a potent winger can help bring out the best Lukaku.
Perisic is valued at 30,00 Mill. € according to tranfermarkt.
