Wilmar Barrios looks set to join Maurizio Sarri ‘s Chelsea next year after the Blues reportedly completed a deal for his transfer from Argentine side Boca Juniors.
The midfielder was reportedly linked with a move to local rivals Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but Chelsea appeared to have snatched the 24-year-old, right under their nose.
The Colombian international will be officially unveiled as a Blues player as he expected to join the former Premier League and current FA Cup champions in the January transfer window next year.
Argentine journalist Luis Fregrossi confirmed the move to the club.
The midfielder has had a fruitful campaign for Boca Juniors and showed a replete of his abilities for his native Colombia, at the summer World Cup in Russia.
The Colombian international team had an impressive run at the summer World Cup in Russia but were halted by the Three Lions of England who edged them in a penalty shootout, that sent them packing unfortunately.
Barrios delivered a stellar performance for Colombia during his brief stint at Russia and will be a very good addition to Maurizio Sarri’s sie next year.
Sarri is expected to captain affairs at Chelsea, as the west Londoners have officially parted ways with Italian tactician Antonio Conte, as revealed by the club on Friday morning.
