Done: Club agree €40m deal for the transfer of Chelsea target, Man United misses out too

Chelsea have lost out on their prime transfer target Arthur after Barcelona agreed a £35million deal to sign the midfielder, according to report.

Barcelona have had the player on their radar and they have been in talks to sign the star, with claims that there were breakthrough in the talks last December after he was spotted wearing a Barcelona jersey.

Arthur is highly rated not just in Brazil but he is regarded as one of the best emerging talents in South-American and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for him. However, we understand that Man United have also lined him up as a target.

And now, according to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, the 21-year-old star is on the verge of sealing his dream move to Barcelona from Gremio in a €40 million (£35m) deal.

The Catalan Club are set to pay up €30m up front, plus another €10m in add-ons which concerns his appearances and renewal of his first contract.

Manchester United are on the look out for a player that will replace Michael Carrick at the end of the season but they may now have to turn their attention elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Conte has revealed that Chelsea are in desperate need of a quality players but the priority for them is in the attack and defence.
