Manchester United board are currently furious with their Portuguese manager José Mourinho after the team’s uninspiring display in their shocking 2-1 home loss to Sevilla on Tuesday, and they might show Mourinho the exit door by the end of the season, according to reports.
In his post-match conference after losing to the La Liga side, Mourinho accused the board of their inability to spend big during the last transfer market and that hasn’t gone well with his employers who are impatient with the former Real Madrid manager’s excuses.
There have been some reports that the controversial manager could be heading to the Parc Des Princes in the summer as Unai Emery is set to quit his job by the end of the season.
According to Don Balon, Manchester United are currently in talks with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone over a possible switch to the Old Trafford. The Argentine is also being tracked by Chelsea as the Blues continue their search for a worthy replacement for Antoino Conte who would be ending his two-year stay at Stamford Bridge by the end of thie season.
Diego Simeone has surely brought spark and life into Atletico Madrid since he joined the club in 2011. He qualified the team to two Champions League finals losing both to local rivals Real Madrid in 2014 and 2016.
The Red Devils directors reportedly believe that the manager is the ideal man for the managerial position ahead of next season.
Mourinho still has a contract which runs till 2020 as he recently extended his contract. The Red Devils battle Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday in a must-win FA Cup quarter final fixture.
