Jose Mourinho is one manager that has understood the transfer window and he continues to earn plaudits for signing top-notch players. The Portuguese tactician is not resting on his onus despite the recent success, he is poised to go one better in order to bring back the glory days for Man United.
Chelsea want-away striker Diego Costa has revealed that Jose Mourinho has called him up to check on him while on holiday in Brazil, this is according to report.
Costa joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 under the auspices of Jose Mourinho. He was an instant hit for the Blues in his debut season as he ended scoring 20 League goals. Despite infamously throwing a bib after Loftus-Cheek was thrown into a match ahead of him, Mourinho maintained a good relationship with the star.
The Brazil born Spain international remained first choice for Chelsea even after Mourinho was sacked but he was always found wanting as he allowed his temperament to get the better of him.
Costa scored 20 League goals for Chelsea and led them to their fifth Premier League title last season but Conte informed the 28-year-old goal poacher that he no longer fits his plans for this season.
According to the report, Costa has been fined by Chelsea for not returning to training. However, Mourinho who seem concerned has called him to wish him well.
“Jose has called me, direct to my phone, just to check I am OK and to see how I am. He wished me good luck,” he told the Daily Mail .
“I never had any problems with Jose, we have a strong relationship. Everyone was very sad when things didn’t work out in the end for him at Chelsea.”
Costa has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid but he is yet to return and he has been unable to get a new club for himself. There are reports that he has taken Chelsea to court.
The Blues allowed Matic to join Man United and even if Costa wants a move to Old Trafford, it is highly unlikely that the deal will be allowed.
