Spain international and former Chelsea frontman Diego regrets joining Chelsea four year ago, admits the 29-year-old.
Costa who joined Chelsea in 2014 from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid reportedly fell out with former boss Antonio Conte, during the Italian boss’s second spell at Stamford.
In January 2017 Costa was shockingly dropped from Conte’s line-up, amidst interest from Chinese outfit Tianjin Quanjian F.C., which was later curtailed.
Costa returned to Chelsea’s line-up that same month, but would later be trimmed from the squad in June that same year.
The Spaniard was told by Conte via text message that he would not be a part of his plan anymore when the new league season came.
Eventually, the 29-year-old returned to former club Atletico Madrid in September 2017, but would only play until after 1 January 2018.
Costa pegged his staggering career before he reunited with former boss Diego Simeone to Chelsea uncharacteristic way of handling things.
“I was wrong going to Chelsea, because of their way of dealing with things. Cholo [Atletico coach Diego Simeone] is a direct coach, and when he doesn’t love you, it’s clear and he shows it.
“At Chelsea it was the opposite…,” he added. A return back to Atletico Madrid has put a smile on the striker’s lips.
Costa said: “Cholo has always been important, because of the coach and the person he is. I love him as a person.
“Here I have everything; a very big club in a big city and people are more similar to Brazil. ”
