Denis Suarez to Arsenal takes a sudden positive twist, player agrees deal

Denis Suarez has asked Barcelona to let him join Arsenal on a loan deal but he has demanded a pay rise before agreeing to sign the new deal that will enable him switch for the Premier League, according to reports.

Arsenal have been drawn into a transfer saga with Barcelona over their interest in Suarez.

The Gunners want to sign the player only on a six months loan deal but Barcelona want the compulsory purchase option at the end of the season inserted in the deal. Consequently the Bluagrana will only allow the Spanish midfielder leave if he signs a new contract.

Meanwhile, Emery has laid bare his desire to add one or two players to his already thin squad but admitted that the club can only make purchases on loan basis.

The current deal of the 25-year-old will expire in 2020 and Barca risk losing him for nothing. The player is down the selection pecking order of Ernesto Valverde and he is unwilling to commit to the side.

Spanish newspaper Sport, have reported that Suarez has agreed to sign a contract extension deal with Barcelona. However, he wants a significant payrise.

According to the Metro,

The Catalan side are considering the offer, and any increase in salary would be offset by the £1.7million loan fee Arsenal have agreed to pay, and it could finally see the Spaniard move to north London.

There is currently a dearth of attacking players at Arsenal and Emery is made the signing of Suarez his top priority for the winter.
