Arsenal boss Unai Emery has claimed target Ever Banega is “a very good player” but he refused to be drawn into any transfer news.
The Gunners are in the market for new signings and they have been strongly linked with a move to for Denis Suarez, Yannick Carrasco and Ever Banega.
While the Arsenal fan base are yearning to see new signings at the club, Emery has revealed that are likely to sign albeit on loan deals.
There is the general belief that the top brass of Arsenal are being frugal or the wage bills of players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette have affected the transfer budget of the club.
The Spanish manager was handed a paltry £70m budget in the summer, this is small because the transfer market is heavily inflated and clubs are paying through their teeth to sign quality players.
For the fans expecting new signings, sadly but true, we cannot sign any even Ever Banega despite reports in Spain that claim Arsenal have agreed to meet the player’s wage demand.
Emery was quizzed about the Argentina star and he said:
“I know this player and he is a very good player. I cannot tell you more.”
He was further quizzed about Arsenal January transfer activities and he said: “We cannot sign permanently. Only loan players. I don’t know his [Suarez] situation now.
“We can only sign players later on. I know the club is working on possibilities of which players help us with big performances like we need now.
“I am very happy. I know it is not easy for us now in this transfer market and if we can find one player who can help us like we need, with the quality and a different player for getting in our squad, we are going to do it.
“But I am happy with every player today. It is really some injuries that did not help us in the last matches.
