Chelsea continues to be linked with a wide range of options for a striker in the transfer market. The Blues have been linked with the prolific Inter Milano’s Mauro Icardi, whose price fee is too steep a fee that can easily be forked out by Chelsea.
A cheaper option is AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain who is raring to leave the outfit following a slow start to the previous half of this campaign.
Higuain is struggling to score goals and despite efforts knuckling down a bit more, he has yet to hit the same top form he struck during his long spell at Napoli.
Higuain is considering moving to Chelsea in a bid to resurrect his striking career, after blowing off interests from the club last season.
However, reports doing the rounds reveal Chelsea are angling towards signing Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, who has scored a whopping 260 career goals.
The 31-year-old is one of the most lethal frontmen in the world and has proven to be very effective in front of goals since he joined the 13-time European giants in 2009 from French club Lyon.
Benzema is an excellent finisher inside the box and has a strong aerial delivery. Chelsea’s two front options as striker–Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata–have grossly underperformed this term, the latter still yet to meet the huge price splurged on him last season.
A move for Benzema seems sensible as Madrid are plotting an overhaul of their aging squad.
