Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Ricardo Pereira in action with a view to bringing him to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports.
José Mourinho is highly keen in signing a winger and a fullback as he wants to add more depth to his squad before the transfer window shuts this summer and he is eyeing a move for the Porto defender.
Pereira impressed in his two-season loan spell at French club Nice and big clubs around Europe have started to circle in. He continued his brilliant form on returning to Porto, completing 90 minutes in each of their two league games this season.
As reported by the Sun, Man United and Tottenham scouts were in Municipal de Aveiro to watch the highly-rated defender in action in his side’s 1-0 win over Tondela on Sunday.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is yet to sign a new player this summer and wants Pereira as a replacement for Kyle Walker who left the club to join Manchester City in a £50 million deal.
United boss also wants the 23-year-old at Old Trafford to strengthen his defence but Spurs are reported to be leading the race for his signature.
European heavyweights Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris-Saint Germain are aware of his talents and are all also interested in his services.
Pereira is a versatile defender who can play on the right-back, left-back and the right wing-back.
Porto has reportedly valued the defender at £20 million.
