While the Reds have been turned down in their chase for Naby Keita, Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to Spanish and Barcelona midfield Rafinha.
Jurgen Klopp has okayed a £36million deal for versatile Barcelona midfielder Rafinha, according to reports.
Liverpool have bolstered their squad ahead of the herculean schedule of next season but the Klopp is still in the want of a creative midfielder. The Reds allowed Lucas Leiva to leave the club earlier in the transfer window and they are looking for a player in his stead.
Rafinha has emerged as a prime target of Liverpool after several bids for Keita hit the rocks. However, Liverpool are not the only Club in the chase of the player, Arsenal have also been credited with interest.
However, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Klopp has sanctioned an offer believed to be between £26.8m (€30m) and £35.8m (€40m) for the signing of Rafinha.
Barcelona are keenly interested in signing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, they might use Rafinha as a bait to get their target. The Catalan club are on the cusp of losing Neymar and they have seen their offers for Coutinho rebuffed but Liverpool’s interest in Rafinha presents a perfect opportunity for the Blaugrana.
Rafinha featured regularly for Barcelona last term until an injury scuppered his campaign in April. He scored seven goals and provided five assists in all competitions last term.
