Deal on: Ed Woodward sanctions Man United deal for €53.4m-rated Chelsea target

Manchester United are edging closer to completing the transfer of Inter Milan forward Ivan Perisic, it is claimed.

According to report from the Mirror, it is now suggested that the Red Devils have finally come round the idea of matching Inter’s valuation of their star forward. The San Siro landlords value Perisic at £48.5 million(53.4m), and despite pressure from their English counterparts have refused to lower the fee.

United had earlier placed a bid worth £40 million for the Croatia international but have thus far been unsuccessful though.

News broke out last week about the player’s agent Fali Ramadani being spotted in Manchester in a bid to broker a move for his client. Also, it is reported that Perisic stalled on the decision to sign a contract tabled by Inter amidst interest from Mourinho, however, the latest report about Ed Woodward being prepared to broker the deal for the 28-year-old could be a soothing relief for most fans who see Perisic as an upgrade to what is currently available in their squad.

Perisic recorded 11 goals 8 assists in the Serie A last season and was one of the standout performers for the Nerazzurri last term. His skill set is quite complete, one that Romelu Lukaku would benefit from immensely, as he loves latching onto long balls from the flanks.

Meanwhile Chelsea are also weighing their options for the winger and this could yet trigger a bidding war for the player.
