Deal on: Chelsea emerge favourite to seal £48m deal for Man United prime target

After an embarrassing start to their Premier League title defence following their shock 3-2 at home loss to Burnley, Chelsea are now eager to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.

Antonio Conte has reiterated the need for the club to bring in more reinforcements and after watching his side conceded three goals against Burnley in the first half on Saturday, the Italian manager is set to start another spending spree and has made signing Perisic his top target.

The Croatian international has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer with Jose Mourinho also keen to bolster his attack but the Portuguese boss has been met with hard stance from Inter in his pursuit of the attacking winger as both clubs have failed to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

However, as reported by the Mirror, Conte is ready to make a move for Preisic, who is valued at £48 million by the Italian club, before the transfer window shuts.

But the English league defending champions will still have to fend off competition from Manchester United. However, former Chelsea forward Hernan Crespo believes Perisic could end up at the West London club.

“It’s possible he joins Chelsea – but he plays on the left and on the left you have Eden Hazard, Perisic and Marcos Alonso,” Crespo told Express Sport.

“Maybe he could come in through the middle or to the right. If you put a lot of money down, even Inter will sell him, but they don’t want to sell him.”

It is understood that a sum of £130 million has been made available for the Blues boss to strengthen his team the more.
