Want-away Arsenal and Germany star, Mesut Ozil appears on the verge of signing for Italian Serie A giants, Inter Milan. The player’s contract situation at the Emirates stadium has grown more complicated in recent times, and reports indicate that the club are even prepared to sell him in the January transfer window, in order to avoid losing him for free when his current contract expires next summer.
A host of top European clubs are already on the alert for his services, should Arsenal put him up for sale. His desired £350,000 per week wage bill is nothing of a deterrent to potential suitors like Inter Milan, Chelsea, Manchester United, big-spending PSG and Manchester City, who have all been monitoring his contract situation since it began.
The player has been heavily criticized by Arsenal fans and soccer pundits all over the world for his half-hearted commitment visible on the pitch, and he has also been accused of stirring up strife among the players in the dressing room.
Among the lot, Inter Milan look poised to win the race to land his signature, even though the player himself has publicly expressed his desire to continue to ply his trade in England if and when he eventually leaves the Emirates.
Arsenal, on their part, will most likely favour selling him abroad to a club like Inter Milan, than to an English club like Manchester United and Manchester City, so as to avoid directly strengthening a fellow rival and title contender.
