Deal on: Arsenal emerge favourites to sign €25million rated Liverpool prime target

Liverpool and Arsenal are ready to battle for the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vasquez, according to reports emanating from the Spanish media.

With the transfer market closing next week, both Jurgen Klopp and Arsene Wenger are making efforts to bring in more players.

Wenger has made only two acquisitions, with Stead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazatte the Gunners boss new intakes so far, while Klopp has seen Mohammed Salah, Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke moving to Anfield.

The two are said to be monitoring the situation of Vazquez at the Santiago Bernabeu with the aim of signing him.

According to Spanish publication Don Balon, the Premier League clubs are interested in completing a deal for the 26-year-old this summer.

Vazquez has failed to nail down a permanent place Zinedine Zidane’s team and started only 12 games in the La Liga last season as Real clinched the league title.

The Spanish yearns for more playing time but has Marco Asensio and Disco ahead of him in the pecking order, raising suggestions that he may want to move on.

Klopp us said to be a huge admirer of the Spain international and would love to have him at the club, while Wenger wants him to replace Alexis Sanchez who is being continuously linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

It is reported that the Chilean international- whose contract with Arsenal expires at the end of this season- could join either PSG or Manchester City this summer.

Liverpool and Arsenal have endured mixed starts to their Premier League campaigns and want to bolster their squad.
