The transfer window is still very much alive and for the fans of Chelsea still bemoaning the lose of Romelu Lukaku to Man United, there seem to be light at the end of the tunnel as GFN understands.
Chelsea have advanced talks with La Liga holders Real Madrid for the signature of Spanish striker Alvaro Morata, reports Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio .
The Blues are currently in the far East for their pre-season but Diego Costa was left behind following Antonio Conte’s plan to play without him next season. The EPL Champions were front runners for the signature of Lukaku, until he slipped through their grasp to join their capital rivals Man United.
Several names have turned up as targets for Chelsea’s final third including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Andre Belotti and Alvaro Morata. Given that Conte has worked with Morata, he want to stick with a familiar attacker.
Morata has struggled to nail a place in the first team of Los Blancos and he wants out of the Santiago Bernabeu. Man United were thought to be keen on the player but Mourinho shocked his fans as he unleashed a chunk of his transfer war chest to sign Lukaku.
The report claims talks are currently ongoing but Madrid are still holding out for £70m for the player, with Chelsea desperate to seal the deal.
Antonio Conte committed his future to Chelsea on Tuesday, he will now focus his attention on bolstering his squad ahead of the upcoming season.
