Unlike Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte is one coach that cannot be easily swayed into signing players for the sake of it. Despite recouping a huge amount of funds from the January transfer window, Chelsea have spent only £35million in the signing of Antonio Rudiger..
With the transfer market still very much open, Chelsea have have been handed a major boost in the transfer of their transfer prime target Leonardo Bonucci, with reports according to the Metro claiming that the player is in talks with the Old Lady for a transfer away from Turin.
Bonucci has been in the news for the past weeks for the reason of transfer. Manchester City and Chelsea were heavily linked but there was news that on Wednesday that the San Siro Clubs have queued up for talks with the 30-year-old centre-back.
Albeit Conte has bolstered his centre-back with the signing of Antonio Rudiger, he is still in the need for option to Gary Cahil in his 3-man defense. Coming from an Italian background, the report by the Metro claims Antonio Conte has sanctioned a deal for the defender.
They claimed that the agent of Bonucci, Alessandro Lucci was quizzed on Wednesday about a possible move for the player by Sportitalia and he replied as thus: ‘We’re working on a sale.’
Rather than making the move to Chelsea, it is understood that AC Milan have emerged favorite for the player’s signature but Antonio Conte would have learnt a great deal of lesson in the transfer window after Lukaku’s departure to Man United.
Bonucci, who helped Juventus to the Scudetto and Champions League final is on contract with the Old Lady until 2021 but he is valued at £50million.
